Online map selection of mineral claims in Nunavut
CIRNAC has modernized the way that mineral claims are acquired in Nunavut. This change allows holders of a licence to prospect to acquire and manage their mining rights using a web-based system, called the Nunavut Map Selection (NMS) system.
The NMS system includes:
- an interactive map, the Nunavut Map Viewer
- a pre-defined grid
- an online shopping cart to complete transactions
Contact the MRO to obtain a user account for the NMS system. Once your account is obtained, follow the instructions here to access NMS.
For additional information, visit the page Online map selection of mineral claims in Nunavut and the Summary of regulatory amendments allowing for online map selection of mineral claims in Nunavut.
Nunavut Map Viewer
The Nunavut Map Viewer provides access to:
- spatial data
- information on mining rights
It also gives you the ability to:
- print maps
- download data
- upload user data so it can be viewed on the map
Mineral spatial data can be downloaded from the Government of Canada's Open Data site.
