Post-secondary education funding programs

Application process

1. Fill out the application form, and mail or drop off your original signed application form to the Yukon Region office.
2. You will be asked to provide copies of the following documents along with your application form:
   • your letter of acceptance or proof of registration from your school
   • your most recent transcripts
   • your current status card (front and back)
   • proof of any dependents you may have
   • documentary evidence of your tuition and fees
3. You will receive a letter telling you whether or not your application was successful.
   • the letter will tell you how much money you will receive
   • you will need to sign 3 copies of a "tuition letter". This letter allows us to pay your tuition directly to your school. It also allows the school to share information with us about what courses you are taking, your attendance and your grades. Provide 1 signed original copy to the Yukon Region office, 1 signed original to your school, and keep 1 for your records
4. Once your school has received the signed tuition letter, they will be able to invoice us directly for your tuition and mandatory fees.
5. If you are eligible for living expenses, you will receive money at the beginning of the month.
6. If you are pre-approved for travel costs, when you submit your receipts for travel, Yukon Region will reimburse you for eligible costs.

Application deadlines

• Fall (September) enrolment: July 15th
• Winter (January) enrolment: November 15th
• Spring (May) enrolment: March 15th

Remember to get your application in early. Applications are valid for 1 school year only (from May to the following April).

Eligible costs

Depending on whether you are full-time or part-time, and where you go to school, financial assistance may be provided for expenses including:

• tuition and other student fees
• living expenses, including for dependents if applicable
• books and supplies required by the student for their program of study
• expenses associated with travel home, including for dependents if applicable

Funding available is not intended to cover all costs while attending school. Students can supplement funding with a part-time job, student loans, scholarships, bursaries, a Registered Educations Savings Plan, among other options. See below for other funding options to explore.
