What
The Faro Mine Remediation Project is holding community meetings to review how public interests and concerns from the summer 2017 consultations have been addressed. The public will be invited to provide feedback on the proposed mitigations found within the remediation plan that address the project's impact on the economy, people and the environment.
Some examples of environmental and socio-economic interests include:
- water quality
- fish and fish habitat
- plants
- wildlife
- local and traditional land uses
- recreational uses
- economic opportunities
- other interests of importance to you
Why
Your feedback will form part of the submission that the project team will file with the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board for review.
Who
This consultation is being led by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.
The Faro Mine Remediation Project is engaging with:
- Ross River Dena Council
- Liard First Nation
- Kaska Dena Council
- Selkirk First Nation
- residents of the Town of Faro and the City of Whitehorse, Yukon
- local and territorial governments
How to participate
There are three ways to participate:
- Attend a community meeting
- Review the proposed mitigation measures document and outline your questions, comments or concerns in writing by email
- Mail us your comments in a letter to the address below
