2023-24 Updates
- The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Secretariat at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Development Canada regularly engages with all provinces and territories and other government departments on the implementation of the Calls for Justice, including through coordinating the annual National Indigenous-Federal-Provincial-Territorial Roundtable, which was held on February 7-8 this year.

Establishment of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People Secretariat
Progress to date
The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Secretariat at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Development Canada regularly engages with all provinces and territories and other government departments on the implementation of the Calls for Justice, including through coordinating the annual National Indigenous-Federal-Provincial-Territorial Roundtable.
The Government of Canada's contribution to the National Action Plan is the Federal Pathway. Each year, Federal Pathway Annual Progress reports are published. These reports provide updates on initiatives outlined in the Federal Pathway from multiple government departments and includes reporting on where these initiatives are linked to the Calls for Justice.
The Federal government also reports through the Horizontal Initiative Results Framework on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People. Horizontal Initiatives are formal monitoring and reporting processes that seek to measure progress toward a common objective using performance indicators and targets. Information on this framework is included in the Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs 2022-23 Departmental Results Report and includes updates from multiple government departments who are leading on the work to address ending violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people.
The 2024 Annual National Indigenous-Federal-Provincial-Territorial Roundtable was organized and supported by the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Secretariat. It included participants from all provinces and territories, six federal Ministers, as well as National Indigenous Organizations, national Indigenous women's and 2SLGBTQI+ organizations, and regional and grassroots Indigenous women's and 2SLGBTQI+ organizations representing First Nations, Inuit Métis, Urban and 2SLGBTQI people. Discussions included a focus on the progress on the implementation of the Calls for Justice, as well as key priorities.
